Giga Africa: A Dynamic Corporate Identity

Unleashing the Potential of a Diversified Group

Giga Africa, designed by Prashant Chauhan, is a corporate identity that captures the essence of a dynamic and growing group with a presence across the African continent. The design integrates various businesses under one visual identity, reflecting their hunger for growth and global appeal.

The inspiration behind the Giga Africa identity lies in the group's dynamic approach to learning, exploring, and growing across diversified sectors. The logo unit features a tilted square, symbolizing the dynamism of the group. The square is opened up with a quarter triangle, representing learning, exploration, and completion. The missing fourth triangle signifies the group's hunger to grow further.

What sets Giga Africa apart is its unique properties and strengths. The design expresses the client's desire to position their brand with a global appeal and dominance over the African continent. The strong "G" symbol in the logo represents the initials of the brothers behind the group. The open dynamic square depicts their appetite for growth, while also abstractly resembling the African continent. The colors used in the logo are inspired by the flags of the client's existing countries, further emphasizing their presence in Africa.

The realization of the design involved experimenting with a sketch of a square and exploring the idea of showing a whole picture with smaller fragments. The colors of the African flags were eventually chosen to highlight the group's presence on the continent. The logo unit is developed in a tilted square type with the font taking its own space at the base, creating a visually appealing 2:3 proportion.

The Giga Africa logo not only represents the group as a whole but also carries its DNA to the individual businesses within the group. Each business has its own visual identity that follows the profile of the logo unit, creating a cohesive visual connection.

The design project for Giga Africa began in April 2016 in Mumbai and was delivered to the client by June 2016. Extensive research was conducted on the group's business model and portfolio, resulting in a logo that reflects the group's presence in seven industries. The dynamic open square, which also resembles the letter "G," became the DNA of the group identity and was adapted to various businesses such as realty, healthcare, distribution, hospitality, and education.

Developing an identity for a group with multiple parallel businesses and integrating them into a cohesive visual identity was a creative challenge. However, the dynamic open square concept provided a solution that represented the group's diverse portfolio while maintaining a unified brand image. The simplicity and contemporary feel of the typeface also allow for potential future global expansion.

Giga Africa's corporate identity, designed by Prashant Chauhan, has received recognition for its excellence. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2017 in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category. This award acknowledges well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements, contributing to a better world.
